About Jiva
Jiva J. Jagtap specializes in advising numerous large and small companies on complex assignments including carve-outs, performance improvement, merger integration and business strategy. Mr. Jagtap has over 20 years of experience, notably in the areas of due diligence, restructuring, deal structuring and negotiation and performance improvement, such as customer segmentation, product profitability and overall business planning/budgeting.
Mr. Jagtap advised and led the integration of Level 3 Communications with tw Telecom and advised Charter Communication in its planning to buy assets from Comcast. Mr. Jagtap led a team across various functional groups to plan and execute on the integration. He was also responsible for and a lead member for the team advising Level 3 Communication on its Global Crossing integration. Over the span of six months each, Mr. Jagtap led a large team that successfully designed and implemented the integration plan across North America and Europe.
Mr. Jagtap has also advised various management teams and Board of Directors on company strategy, acquisitions and divestitures. Some of the companies that Mr. Jagtap has been involved with include Zayo, Windstream, Level (3), Global Crossing, Alaska Communication, Xspedius, BCE, Charter Communication, ICC (U.S. Virgin Island), Hawaiian Telcom, HickoryTech, ICG, Viawest, Earthlink, Cincinnati Bell, Gramtel, Continental Broadband, Visi and several other privately held companies.
Prior to rejoining FTI Consulting, Mr. Jagtap served as segment Chief Financial Officer for Zayo, a large public telecom company, managing the Enterprise and Allstream business segment, which accounted for over $1 billion in annual revenue. In addition to being CFO, Mr. Jagtap was also responsible for the operational turnaround of Allstream and its separation out of Zayo in preparation of its sale.
Mr. Jagtag previously served as part of the merger and acquisition team at Level (3), where he led the new enterprise VoIP services initiative and was a member of the Corporate Development team for several years.
Prior to Level (3), Mr. Jagtap was part of the startup team at SignalSoft, a wireless software company. Mr. Jagtap was Vice President of Corporate Development, responsible for the company’s strategic plan, partnership program and expansion of the company into Europe and Asia. Mr. Jagtap also managed a $25 million investment fund that made investments in early stage wireless companies. In the summer of 2000, he engineered the sale of the company to OpenWave (Nasdaq: OPWV).Before SignalSoft, Mr. Jagtap was part of the investment banking team at Salomon Smith Barney, where he helped numerous companies both in raising capital and representing them in merger and acquisition transactions. The aggregate transaction value of all the deals where Mr. Jagtap represented clients exceeded $20 billion. Mr. Jagtap is also the Founder of the TiE in Colorado, a global organization that fosters entrepreneurship.
Mr. Jagtap holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Mumbai University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Case Western Reserve University, where he was the recipient of the Weatherhead Merit Scholarship. He also previously held FINRA Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses.
