About John
John Stiffler specializes in driving large-scale transitions to set strategic vision, establishing new businesses, transform operations for profitable growth and converting deals into shareholder value.
Mr. Stiffler advises both corporate and private equity merger and acquisition (“M&A”) sponsors on key growth-oriented technology challenges. His experience spans the entire deal lifecycle, including deal strategy, due diligence, transaction readiness, mergers, separations and carve-outs, operating model design, leadership and talent strategy development, synergy management/value capture and post-close transformation planning across industries in North America and Europe. He has led more than 750 IT due diligence and post-close planning/execution projects since the mid-1990s.
At a high level, Mr. Stiffler’s skills center around IT strategy, business intelligence, process reengineering, and implementation; pre-transaction IT and operational diligence, including both buy- and sell-side deals; post-transaction merger integration planning and execution; and post-transaction divestiture planning and execution.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Stiffler spent 11 years at West Monroe Partners (“WMP”), a mid-market-focused IT consulting firm. At WMP, Mr. Stiffler built the firm’s national M&A practice. He also led the west coast M&A organization along with local San Francisco office leadership.
Prior to joining West Monroe partners, Mr. Stiffler spent nine years in industry with Grant Thornton LLP as Director of IT Strategy, Governance and Development. In this deputy Chief Information Officer role, he was responsible for firm-wide IT operations, including application development, governance, business intelligence, enterprise and application architecture, acquisition integration as well as strategic planning/alignment.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton LLP, Mr. Stiffler spent 13 years in the consulting business, working for firms such as Deloitte Consulting Ernst & Young and Booz, Allen & Hamilton. As a result, John has strong business oriented skills in cost reduction, service improvement, business process optimization, technology driven value creation and change management.
Mr. Stiffler is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth in San Francisco. Additionally, he serves on the board of Kesem San Francisco, a not for profit that helps children and families cope with a parent’s cancer.
