About Matthew
Matthew Cowell is the Leader of the Human Capital practice. Mr. Cowell has over 25 years of human resources (“HR”) consulting experience, including 20 years leading financial HR due diligence, global post-deal integrations, and carve-out to stand-alone executions. Matt has been involved in over 1,500 transactions throughout his career.
Key areas of financial HR due diligence include identifying financial risks with respect to defined benefit, active medical, equity, employment and change in control-related plans, and IRC 280G (“Golden Parachutes”). Mr. Cowell’s typical integration and carve-out assistance includes providing independent advice and oversight for the various HR workstreams of the overall integration or carve-out to stand-alone setup process.
Mr. Cowell and his teams have also driven a variety of non-M&A engagements, including HR performance improvement initiatives, assisting clients in reviewing their current HR function to identify inefficiencies and potential cost savings levers within the HR function and fringe.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Cowell was a Partner of HR Transaction Services (“HRTS”) within the Deal Advisory practice at KPMG, where he created and led the U.S. practice. Prior to that, he was a Partner within the HRTS practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led the New England region.
