Nick Adams

Nick Adams is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry in UK, Brunei, South East Asia, Mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong. Nick has broad industry exposure including building, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities and mechanical/electrical services projects and has experience of a variety of construction contracts including standard and bespoke forms in use in both the public and private sectors.

Nick specialises in dispute resolution and the provision of expert quantum advice, reports and evidence for litigation, arbitration, mediation and adjudication and provides independent expert witness assistance, reports and oral evidence for both claimants and respondents. He was first appointed as a Quantum Expert in 1999 and has since been appointed by clients from both the employer and the contracting side of the industry on numerous significant commissions.

Recent appointments include the provision of written and oral evidence in a significant foundations dispute arbitrated in Hong Kong and assisting a ‘blue-chip’ client with preparations for mediation on a substantial civil engineering dispute. Nick has also been extensively involved in claims preparation, defence and management on behalf of contractors, sub-contractors and employer bodies and provides assistance and advice related to measurement, claims for and valuation of variations, loss and expense costs and related issues.

Nick also advises on contractual matters, contract administration and disputes resolution procedures and is experienced in leading and managing teams involved with claims and disputes, handling and controlling dispute resolution procedures including formulating strategies, briefing and liaising with legal advisors and achieving targeted settlements.

Nick is an approved Dispute Resolution Advisor for the Joint Management Committee of the Hong Kong Construction Association and the Architectural Services Department in Hong Kong. He is also an approved Dispute Avoidance and Resolution Advisor with the Hong Kong Housing Authority and has been appointed as Dispute Resolution Advisor on a number of Government contracts.
