Patrick McGeehin is a Senior Managing Director in the Construction, Projects & Assets practice within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment of FTI Consulting and is based in Bethesda Maryland, New York and Florida. He consults on construction, government contract, and litigation support matters, and provides contract claims assistance and litigation support services relating to the calculation of and approach to damages. These damages include breach of contract, lost profits, requests for equitable damages in delay and disruption cases, and fraud-related issues. His primary emphasis is in the construction and government contracts industries, although he has experience consulting and testifying in other business sectors.
Mr. McGeehin provides expert testimony, both in deposition and trial proceedings, in the area of contract disputes and cost accounting matters. This testimony has been provided in both court and board forums, including the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals, the ASBCA, Federal Civilian BCA, NASA BCA, various Circuit Courts and United States District Courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the International Court of Arbitration in Geneva, Switzerland. He is the accounting editor of “Construction Accounting – A Guide for Attorneys and Other Professionals,” and co-authored a chapter in the book, published by the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry. He authored a chapter in “The Comprehensive Guide to Lost Profits Damages for Experts and Attorneys,” published by Business Valuation Resources. His articles have been published in the American Bar Association's Public Contract Law Journal, the Government Contract Costs, Pricing & Accounting Report, and in the Construction Business Review.
Mr. McGeehin’s Government Contracts experience includes engagements in a variety of industries and contract types, including aerospace, other manufacturing, services and construction. In the Aerospace and Manufacturing industries, he has represented Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Aeroject, Honeywell, Harsco/BMY, Vought Aircraft, and United Defense. He has also represented the U.S. Government, including both the Department of Justice and the Department of State, on matters involving major Government Contractors, including Northrop, Newport News Shipbuilding, and Litton Industries. His experience in the Government Contract sector includes virtually all types of disputes, including Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REA), false claims, qui tam filings, terminations, and formal claim appeals before the U.S. Civilian Board of Contract Appeals and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
Mr. McGeehin conducts seminars to select client groups on various accounting topics, and has been a guest speaker on cost accounting at conferences held throughout the country, including presentations at the annual Construction SuperConference and conferences sponsored by the American Bar Association and other groups. He previously served on the Advisory Board of the Government Contract Costs, Pricing & Accounting Report, a monthly publication focusing on government contract cost accounting issues.
Mr. McGeehin is a CPA; he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Scranton and received a M.B.A. from George Washington University. Prior to joining FTI in 2008, Mr. McGeehin was a Co-Founder and Shareholder of Rubino & McGeehin.
