Ron Scalzo specializes in providing operational, financial and business process transformation services to global companies. Mr. Scalzo has more than 30 years of experience. His expertise covers a wide range of industries including retail and consumer products, industrial products, telecommunications, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, private equity, transportation and logistics.
Mr. Scalzo advises senior management and boards of directors for both healthy and distressed companies. He is an expert in refining operational strategy and operational effectiveness while delivering accelerated value creation. Mr. Scalzo’s experience in creating and implementing strategy execution programs that deliver sustainable performance improvement includes revenue enhancement, product portfolio optimization, strategic sourcing, strategic realignment of business units, operational process management, inventory optimization, cost realignment, selling, general and administrative cost optimization and working capital maximization. Mr. Scalzo has served as an advisor to private equity sponsors and portfolio companies and has held multiple interim management positions.
Regarding retail and consumer products, Mr. Scalzo redesigned the global distribution network for a major retailer, which when fully implemented will result in savings of over $20 million annually, inventory reduction of about 20%, ROCI of 22%, as well as improved order fill rates and reduced transit times. He also delivered sourcing savings in excess of $40 million, through a combination of competitive RFP events, direct negotiations and eSourcing events. Additionally, Mr. Scalzo led a global procurement transformation initiative, achieving annual sourcing savings of $550 million with a goal of $1 billion in annual savings within 24 months for a consumer products company.
Mr. Scalzo’s shipping and transportation experience includes assessing the current business model and developing a long-term strategic vision and business plan, taking into account financial, operational and legal risks for a leading provider of same-day and next-day critical shipments and expedited services; serving as interim President and Chief Operating Office for a private equity-owned dry van truck load carrier operating about 600 trucks, where he led an EBITDA improvement initiative resulting in a five-point improvement in operation ratio in first six months; and leading a low-cost country sourcing initiative for a leading package delivery company, delivering 16% annualized savings based on total landed costs for goods sourced primarily from China.
Additional experience includes leading a network optimization and SKU rationalization initiative for a major industrial distributor, resulting in a 40% reduction in inventory on-hand and improved on-time in-full from 85% to 98% for A and B SKUs.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Scalzo held a variety of leadership positions with other leading firms, including Alix Partners, Accenture and A.T. Kearney, where he was the Leader of the Transportation practice. Mr. Scalzo is a frequent speaker and contributor to professional organizations including the American Productivity & Quality Center, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals and the Turnaround Management Association.
